THE EMPIRE. COMMENCING TO-MORROW. "THE BETTER 'OLE." : lao. D. Chateau's International Attractions have the honor to present at the Empire Theatre to-morrow, Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday Captain Bruce Bairnsfather's celebrated picture play "The Better "Olc," which lias been running at the Oxford, London, for over two years, and is at present delighting capacity audiences in a triumphant tour of New Zealand. ' 'The Better 'Ole" is not a war story, but a living, breathing, human comedy in six acts, built on the famous "Fragments of France" from the master brain of Bruce Bairnsfather. Almost everyone knows that the wondrous "material from which Captain Bairnsfather conjured a family welcome in every nook and comer of'the globe had been woven into a drama, which for three years converted its theatres into temples thronged with crystal-gazers—-for this wonder-play is a crystal—wherein one sees the beauty, the tenderness, tho rare and radiant humor, the grim purpose, tho love of fellow-kind, and, above |all, the odd and indescribable sense of fun that, would stop to crack a joke at the portals of the beyond. This adventure of Old Bill's is only typical of thousands of incidents bred iu the Great War. but it conveyed the message of cheer, the doctrine of "carry on" to the men in the trenches, and, though but a modest romance, became a vital message at ft vital moment. This b,ing the first all-British picture production for four years, it is considered an historic event in the annals of the picture art and industry, and to avoid disappointment prudent patrons will doubtless reserve their seats at Collier's, where plans for the full season a--e now on view. Prices of admission are 2s Gd, 2s, and front seats Is (plus tax').
