A large crowd assembled outside the Returned Soldiers' Club, Lambton Quay, last night where an open-air concert was held, at which the Watersider's Band played, and numerous couples danced to the music. A number of youths and young men objected to the tram cars passing along so frequently, and made attempts to hold up the vehicular traffic. Several of them climbed on the tram cars and disengaged the trolleys. The police allowed a lot of latitude, but eventually interfered. One man was arrested, and was followed to the police station by a threatening crowcl. Outside tho station two more arrests were made, and the police threatened to turn the fire hose on tho crowd, and the assemblage gradually dispersed. As a sequel to the disturbance, Leslie Oldaker was fined £2 by Mr. E. Page, S.M., to-day on a charge of ob- | stmeting a train car. Alfred C. Needman was sentenced to 14 days without [the option of a fine for assaulting Constable Scarry, and Harry Wallace, who was charged with obstructing the police, was given the benefit of the doubt.
