The heavy rain Interfered with discharging operations at the wharf yesterday, and In consequence the Kittawa and Baden Powell were unable to get away to their respective destinations. The Baden Powell la to take some general cargo and also about 500 boxes of butter to Wellington. Both vessels will probably est away to-day if the weather Is favorable. SAN FRANCISCO SERVICE. According to news from Australia dealine with the Australian—San Francisco trade as the result of the release of a large number of British merchant ships, it Is expected to shortly resume a full service between Australia. New Zealand and San Francisco. Plans are belne prepared for the Installation of a number of freighters of a fast type, with u large refrigerated capacity, to be employed in the frozen meat and butter trade. With tho resumption of this regular service trade conditions with Ametea shouUi be greatly improved. -™>nt*
