BRITISH COAL QUESTION.
THE GOVERNMENT'S OFFER. ACCEPTED PROVISIONALLY. Received July IS, 1.45 a.m. London, July 17. Mr. Brace appealed to the miners' conference at Keswick to accept the Government's offer to suspend the lis increase for three months. Meanwhile the miners to undertake the reorganising of the industry, increase the output, and refrain from striking. Delegates urged the refusal of the offer pending the Government's announcements towards nationalisation. The conference agreed to co-operate with a view to increasing the output on condition that the Government adopted all Mr. Justice Sanl-iey's recommendations, but declined to pledge not to strike for three months. There were only two dissentients. INCREASE TO BE MADE Received July 20, 5.5 p.m. London, July 18. Mr. Bonar Law, in the House of Commons, sajd in view of the miners' decision the six shillings increase would be effective on July 21st.—Aus.-X.Z, Cable Assn.
