QUESTION OF IMPERIAL TAX. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Niglit. It was stated.at a meeting of the Repatriation Board that a case of hardship had arisen in connection with the widow of a s,oldier, who desired to return to 'to join her relatives, hut asked the board to pay the £4O tax imjioseu by the Imperial Government oil women entering the Brifeh Isles. The sustenance committee recommended that the ministerial board be asked to take steps to urge the Imperial authorities to remove the tax in the case of soldiers' widows returning to relatives in the British Isles. Several members, while considering the Imperial tax was not an equitable one- in respect to soldiers' widows, remarked that it was beyond the power of the bpard to tafcc action in the direction of making a grant tu cover the tax.
