"Elaborate preparations nre being made for the peace celebrations. The streets are to be festooned and illuminated, and for I'm purpose workmen have been busy to-dav stretching wires across the street, and overhead are suspended pretty trio-colored flags, to which numerous electric bulbs "will b« attached. The globes are of various colors and the central light on each wire is to bo of 1000 candle power. There is also to be a large arch, surmounted with a crown formed with electric bulbs, a very fine piece oi work by Mr. Holland, borough electrical engineer. Though the business people are bearing collectively the cost of tli? street illuminations, each individual is doing something, and that will add to the general effect, and workmen were busy in every show window to-day, so that the country people will have every inducement to attend. Arrangements hare been made with thfc caterers to keep open and Mr. R. H. Witt, of the Medina tea and luncheon rooms, has mado special provision in dealing with the crowd. He has procured from the Rorouch Council the right to use the reading-room and the large passage way in tin! upflOs portion of the Jtuncipal Chambers, and hopes to be able to deal satisfactory"with all comers.
