GOLD IN WALES.
•BIOH DISCOVERY REPORTED,
A rich vein of gold is reported to have been struck in the Merionetshiro mountains in Wales.
Minors had been working vigorously for geven weeks, and struck gold in a hill a few miles from Barmouth. For some days previously gold of the finest quality had been extracted here and there from the rock and washed in the pans.
Discoveries of gold have been reported at various times in North Wales, and in one year a mining company won as much as £30,000 worth.
Gold-bearing quartz was again strnck in 1912, and also last May, when a discharged Australian soldier, a'n expert engineer, found a streak on a mountain side near Barmouth. As lately as last July miners, were extracting gold and copper in that neighborhood.
