WOMEN PATROLS.
IN CONNECTION WITH PUBLIC HEALTH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night.
The following appointments of women health patrols have been made by the l'ublic Health Department: Wellington, -Airs. C. J. EUiott; Chriatehurch, Mrs. .M. Stringer and Mrs. C. Ciouah; Dunedin, Mrs. M. A. Cameron and Mrs. J. Murray. These ladies will take up their duties on July 21st. The Auckland appointments have not been finally decided, and one other Wellington appointment has yet to be made. The Hon. G. 'Vf. Eussell said the primary object in view was to conserve the health and general welfare of young persons of both sexes. The ladies would be officers of the Public Health Department under the direction of the District Health Officer, hut for special purposes they would be invested with powers of J »:e police, and these powers would be used where necessary to make enquiries with regard to a.iy matters that called for accurate information alt to houses ami their occupants.
