WAITARA.
(From Our Own Corerspondent.) Waitara, July 15. At a meeting of the Peace Celebrations Committee last night, final arrangements were made for celebrating peace on Saturday. It was decided to invite all parents of soldiera who had fallen in the war, to the Returned Soldiers' dinner on the 19th., and a list of names was made in the room • Mr. If. B. Lcpper and Mr. Haleombc are to be asked to act as judges of the beßt decorated vehicle, etc., in the procession. It waß decided to refund the amount handed in from the Red Cross Society, as apparently the money could not be used for other purposes than for which it was raised.
The Waitara Seaside Society's euchre party last night was fairly well patronised, 18% tables being 'filled. Tha prizes were won as follows: Ist ladies (donated by Mr. G. Parry), Mrs. Farquhar; 2nd ladies, Mrs. J. Taylor; Ist. Gents (donated by W. Jury and Co.), J. C. Blanchard: 2nd, Mr. T. Buchanan. The music for the dance was supplied by Mr. J. Taylor, and Mr. S. D. George was M.C.
The School Committee held its monthly meeting last night; and decided finally not to do anything in the mutter of hot cocoa for the children this winter, but to start earJy next year. The R.s. Armagh is having rather ft rough time this loading. Two barges, which iverc out alongside on Sunday, got rather badly knocked out, bumping against the. vessel's side. One barge went on the beach, through the breaking of the towline, but was refloated with ibut little damage. -About 24 barge loads are expected to ba put aboard, consisting of wol, general, hides, tallow, beef and mul?ju.
