SEXUAL OFFENDER, By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, July 14. Roy Albert Delaney, charged in the Magistrate's Court to-day with having committed rape on a nine-year-old girl at Petone was remanded till the 22nd. ESCAPE OF A PRISONER. Wellington, Last Nitht. Lawrence John Maloney, a prisoner undergoing a term of detention for breaking and entering, escaped this afternoon. Maloney wa.9 taken from tho Terrace prison to the public hospital recently for treatment, and was to have been taken back to gaol to-day, but effected his escape.
