The New Zealand League team defeated Toowoomba bv 42 to 12.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc. 6TAR v. OLD BOYS. Weather conditions were unfavorable on Saturday. Nevertheless there was a i;ond attendance at the Recreation Grounds, where Star and Old Boys tried conclusions The game was fast and interesting, and though the greasy nature of the ball militated against good back play, some fine passing bouts were witnessed, particularly on the part of the Star backs. In the first spell Star had the advantage of the wind, and held the upper hand practically throughout Their backs throw the ball about nicely, Manu, Hartman and Penniall showing good combination. The defence, however, was sound, and it was not till near the end of tho spell that Smith scored from a forward scramble, the shot at goal proving resultless. In the second spell Old Boys pressed, and looked like scoring on more than one occasion, Star being forced. Star forwards, however, rushed the ball down the field, and in the concluding stages Star again hold the upper hand, scoring tivo tries. Hughes scored the first ouo as the outcome of a pretty passing bout, in which Penniall, Loverldge and himself participated, and Spence later scored as tho result of a forward rush, Sutherland converting. For the winners, Mann, Hartman and Penniall (backs), Kooa and Blucher (forwards) were most conspicuous, as were Corkill and Eggleton (forwards), McDonald and Wynyard (backs) for the losers. Mr. W. Itoch was referee. CLIFTON v. OKATO. Clifton and Okato had a close and interesting "go" at the coastal township, tho local team putting up a great fight, and having hard luck In being defeated by 11 points to 3. In tho first spell Clifton, playing with tho wind, scored two penalty goals, and a try, which was converted. On changing ends, Okato more than held their own, and Julian scored a try, which was not converted, whilst Tautent got over on two other occasions, but scores did not result. Mr. J. Johnson was referee. HIGH SCHOOL v. STRATFORD D.H.S. In the'second junior competition, High School second team defeated Stratford District nigh School by 9 points to nil. For the winners, Kyngdon, Pote and Hine scored tries. Mr. Eggleton refereed. STAR v. TUKAPA The match between Star and Tukapa resulted | In a draw, each toam scoring three points. For Star, Sharpe kicked a penalty goal in the first spell, whilst in tho second spell Hopley scored a try for Tukapa, Mr. It. Johnson was referee. HIGH SCHOOL v. PATEA JUNIORS. A team representing the Patea Juniors met the High School third flfteen~ou-the racecourse on Saturday afternoon, and were defeated by 17 points to nil. The losers played a good gamo, but lacked combination. Mr. Hooker was referee. ENSUING FIXTURE!* ■ Owing to the peaco celebrations on Saturday requiring the use of practically all the grounds throughout tho northern end of the province, It has been decided to postpone all fixtures on that date in the northern division. Second Juniors. Star v. Inglewood, at New Plymouth. Eltham v. Tukapa, at Eltham. Stratford a bye. Tukapa and Star have finished all their second round fixtures. Inglewood have yet to play Stratford and Eltham. It may be possible for Inglewood and Stratford to arrange to meet on Peace Monday. THURSDAY, JULY 24. ! Seniors. Inglewood v.
