FARM AND DAIRY.
SALE OF ABERDEEN ANGUS CATTLE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hastings, Last Night. The first annual sale of Aberdeen Angus cattle was held yesterday under the auspices of the New Zealand Aberdeen Angus Ciittle Breeders' Association. Owing to the impossibility of shipping to Australia no buyers were represented from there. Train transport was another difficulty, and the trouble, coming on top of an exceptionally severe season, ied sellers to anticipate poor prices. Two of Carlyon's bulls fetched respectively 260 and 240 guineas, namely, President of Gwavas, bought by Mr. V?.. Sanson, and Prince Buller of Gwavas bought by Mr. 11. B. Williams.
The top price paid for a cow was 71 guineas for Oladbrook, S. N. 7(1, rising two-years-old, bought by Mr. W. A. Mefarlane. closelv followed by 70 guineas for another Gladbrook cow, Hoe, rising five years, bought by Mr. T. Ellhigham. Out of 104 beasts catalogued five were withdrawn, 31 passed in. and 09 were sold, realising oyer £4OOO. Of the 31 passed in. the majority were quitted privately after the sale.
