By Telenraph —Preu Aim.—-OoDyr'stit London, July 10. •During his visit to England, Mr. Hughes actively engaged in expanding and improving the business relations of Australia and Britain. Matters were sufficiently advanced before he sailed to appoint a committee for carrying on the scheme to a practical issue. Messrs. Braddon, Walter and Leach will tentatively form the nucleus .of a larger body to develop the plan. Mr Hughes hopes to secure the cooperation of the various States in order to prevent competition in selling Australian products so as to secure the best prices, while trade with Britain will be developed to the uttermost. Mr. Hughes has also arranged for representatives in France and Italy to cooperate with the British committee ir placing Australian products •in those countries.

Before he left the representative ot an important automobile flrjn approached Mr, Hughes with the view of establishing works in Australia. It is believed the new scheme will Improve Australia's markets abroad and may lead to the reorganisation of the High Commissioner's office in the direction of bringing it into closer and more active touch with commercial affairs, nstead'of being largely an official department,
