A social was lield in the Pembroke schoolroom in honor of Privateß P. and JH. Wicksteed, who have lately returned from the front. There was a large attendance, and the proceedings were of an enthusiastic character. Mr. H. Harrison, on behalf of the residents, presented each of the returned men with an illuminated address. Songs were given by Misses D. Fitzgerald and 0. Martin and Mr. Aitken, the accompaniments being played by Miss'S. Fitzgerald. For the dance, music was provided by Mrs. Bianchi and Mr. S. Parker, assisted by. Miss Harrison and Messrs. West and H. Harrison. The Boor was in the charge of Mr. H. Harrison. An excellent supper was provided. The Peace Celebrations Committee have made final arrangements for the celebrations, which will start with a procession on Saturday, the 19th, at 1 p.m. The main procession will assemble in Broadway, near the courthouse, and will march plong Pembroke Road, Miranda and Seaton Streets and Broadway, ending at the post office, where speeches will be delivered by the Mayor, Major J. B. Hine and other speakers. The main procession will proceed in the following order: Returned soldiers and members of th* Expeditionary Forces, Territorials, Cadets, Scouts, veterans, representatives of peace, Britannia and her allies, M.P. and members of local bodies, friendly societies, athletic societies, displays by country school children, decorated vehicles, tradesmen's displays and general public. At 7 p.m. there will be a short procession, consisting of the fire brigade and volunteers, carrying Roman candles, Bengal lights, etc. *4 fireworks display will follow at 7.30 pjn., in Victoria Park, after which there .will be a fancy-dress masquerade, Venetian carnival and dancing in Broadway. In the afternoon * there will be a flag pageant by the local school children, who will march through a number of streets to the post office. On Monday the procession will be repeated at 11 a.m>, and the afternoon will be devoted to children's sports in Broadway. The programme in the evening will be similar to that on Saturday. It is understood, that the streets will be specially illuminated at night by the trades people, A prize of £lO has been donated for the best decorated vehicles which will be judged in three classes. In a cribbage match against Te Popo at Midhirst, the Denbigh Road Club won by 12 games. The quarterly returns for the Stratford Magistrate's Court show that 49 civil cases were heard by the stipendiary magistrate. The aggregate amount! sued for was £1531 IDs 7d, of which £595 19s was recovered. Six old-age pensions were renewed, and ten are pending. One fresh claim was granted, and five remain to be dealt with. A football match was played on Victoria Park yesterday, the competing teams being Stratford first juniors and Eltham. Stratford was easily the better team, and won by 12 to nil. A. Kivell (2), Coutts and R. Rodgers scored. Mr. Nuttall refereed. POSTED DIRECT FOR 2s Gd. One Good Luck .
