The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London house, under date July 5, 1919: Wool sales have closed. No change, except for faulty (5 per cent, higher) and medium and coarse crossbred (ID per cent, lower than ou May 24). CANTERBURY PRODUCE MARKET. Chrlstchurdi, July 8. There is a generally firmer tone in the market, which is partly due to the limited'railway service. Some of the farmers who have not sold their wheat are placed in a serious position. The recent rains have found their way into the stacks of grain standing in paddocks, and the farmers are anxious to get the grain Into store before any further damage is done. The railways will not, however, carry wheat, except for immediate gristing. The oats market, unlike other branches of the trade, la still in a very dull state. There are none offering, and white oats would not command more than 3s 6d to 4s per bushel at country stations if they were placed on the market. Oataheaf chaff is in fair demand, but in sympathy with oats the price shows no firmer tone, £tj to £6 5a per ton at country stations being the ruling price. The potato market is much firmer, the demand being more active, and there Is riot a large quantity Offering, as most of the crop now in growers' hands is in pit. The price has advanced to £8 12s fid to £0 15s pet ton at country stations. Partridge peas are firmer, and 6s 6d to oa-9d per bushel at country stations is now being paid, while blues are worth 6s fid to 9s. Most of the heavy Peninsula cocksfoot seed is now in merchants' hands, and those growers who are still holders »ro asking up to is per lb., while merchants are disinclined to go over lOd. Red clover is worth up to Is 5d tier lb, and white clover is firmer, and has sold up to Is 3d per lb. AUCKLAND STOCK MARKET.
