MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Taranakl Education Board was hold yesterday, there being present: Messrs R. Masters,(chairman), H. Trimble, P. J. White, T. Buchanan, H. H. Grayling, H. J. Hamblyn; Rotokare, head teacher, Miss Dromgbol; Lepperton, head toacher, Mrs J. Olsen; Mokoia, assistant, Miss Linn; Hulakama, assistant. Farquhar (Hawera)! , LEAVE OF ABSENCE. leave of absence was granted to the following teachers:—Mr J. Bailie, Otakeho (three weeks); Mr T. Innes, Okaiawa (two weeks); Miss C. Covney, Albert (two weeks); Miss V. M. Evans, 1 Te Rotl (one month); Miss M. Molr, Huiioa (three weeks); Mr D. D. Henderson, Hawera ' (ten days); Mrs Hllder, Denbigh (three weeks); and Miss D. White, Mangatokl (three ' months), APPOINTMENTS RECOMMENDED. Certain alterations were agreed upon and a grant was promised for the Stratford High School on lines Indicated. The Hawera High School plans nere submitted and are receiving consideration. Owing to the railway restrictions the progress of new work was likely to be retarded, , TRUANT OFFICER'S REPORT. The truant officer (Mr G. Pascoe) reported that 61 notices for Irregular attendance had been sent out during the month. The report was adopted. RESERVES COMMITTEE. The Reserves Commmlttee recommended leases ■ of the following sections to the lessees named ; Section 40, Maknka, to L. W. Johns (conditions waived); Section 17, Block 12, Omona, to Mr Stewart; Section 22, Block 10, Cape Survey District, to E N. Corbett; Section 26, Block 11, Ngnere Survey District, to W. Poole; Section 20, Block 9, Hulroa Survey District, to J. Craig;' Section 13, Block 6, Egmont Survey District, to T. Molloy; Section 22, Block 4, Mlml, to J. J. Chapman (conditions waived). • The report was adopted. GENERAL. Tho Board decided that it would supply material for fencing the grounds under tho original offer, to the Klore Committee, provided the committee found the labor. It was resolved that plans be prepared and applications made to the Department for grants for the erection of a teacher's residence at Tokirlma and Carrlngton Road. The matter of a site -for a residence at Carrlngton Road was referred to Messrs. Smith and While. It was decided to prepare plans and make appllcatlpn for a grant for additions to the school residence at Tataralmaka. It was decided to grant £1 15s to the Kapunl Committee towards the cost of concreting the backyard of the residence. , It was decided to Inform the Waltaanga Committee that the Board regrets It could riot see Its way to fell the bush on the school reserve. It was also resolved to refer the matter of the lease of the school site at Waltaanga Jo Jhe Reserves Committee'for a report. Matters'in regard to repairs and other works at Mldhlrst, Lepperton and Vogeltown, were re- , ferred to the overseer. It Was resolved to inform the Bell Block Committee that the Board could not make any grant ' towards the renewal of the shelter shed The Board resolved to apply to the Department foj house allowance In lieu of a residence at Durham Road. ,- The boundaries of the new school district "of Vogeltown, as recommended by the committee of the Board, and accepted by tho various committees concerned, were confirmed. As committees had not been elected by householders meetings the Board made the following appointments :—Hulakama, Messrs C O'Neill, J. Garllck, D. Kemp, E Calvert, and A McDonald. Kalmata, Messrs. G. Capper and J Dobson. Kohuratahi. O. McCutchan and j' B. McCartle. Marakopa, Messrs R. Barton and C. A. Reeve' Punlwhahau, Messrs C Watchorn and T. Hnynes. Urenui, Messrs r' H. Plgott and A. H. Sheard. The matter of repairs and renovations to the Inglewood school residence was referred to Mr Trimble and the overseer. Messrs Masters and Trimble's report on the accommodation in the Standard II room at the Inglewood School was adopted, and the overseer was Instructed to attend to the substitution of dual desks In place of the long ones. It was also decided to have plans prepared end to apply for a grant for an additional room tt Inglewood. Accounts amounting to £7159 18s lid' were passed for payment.
