THE NUMBER IN EUROPE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The demobilisation state of the Expeditionary Force on June 2S was as follows: In France, 14; in United Kingdom, 9513; patients in hospital, United Kingdom, 831; men with wives cind families in United Kingdom, 1237; nurses and Red Cross workers to be evacuated, 79.

NEARLY 10,000 ON THE WATER. Advice has been received by the Defence Department ( that two more transports have left the United Kingdom with troops for New Zealand. The particulars are as under:

Somerset (Returning Draft No. 273): Left United Kingdom July 2; due at Lyttelton about August 12. Draft comprises 967 troops. Mamari (Returning Draft No. 274): Left United Kingdom July 3; due Auckland about August 13. Draft comprises 1055 troops.

This brings the total number of troops now on the water making for New Zealand ports to 9555. They are accomml dated in eleven transports, which also have on board 005 women and 154 children.
