WAITARA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The Diggers' Dance held on Thursday night was a very enjoyable a flair though the attendance left something to be desired. Mr. F. Procter was M.C., and Mr J. Taylor supplied the music with extras played by Misses M. Foreman and P. Hutchinson.

Last night a learners' dancing class was started in the Foresters' Hall, and was very largely patronised, the hall being hardly large enough to accommodate all who were there.

The annual meeting of the Band was held last night, and from the tone of the meetuig band seems to be in difficulties again, Mr. Cudby is resign ing the conductorahip and there seems no one to take his place. ' Mr. T Hughes has beep asked to conduct the band so that it will be able to help in the peace celebrations on July 19, and I believe has agreed to do so It is to be hoped that all old members wfefi can will help to tl»3 end as, without band music, celebrations will fall verv flat.

The Rev. T. B. Lawrence, who was appointed to take charge of the Waitara Methodist, circuit Bome time ago while absent with the forces, arrived in Wai tara on Wednesday to take charge. He has a long miliary record, having been all throueh the war in France.
