FIRES.

A NARROW ESCAPE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Taumarunui, July 7. Beaumont's two-storey boarding-house at Owhango was destroyed at 3 o'clock on Sunday morning. The inmates had a narrow escape in their night clothes. ,Some jumped from the balcony, one woman and two children just escaped with their lives. The buildings were insured for £IOOO, The furniture was uninsured. Nothing was saved. The fire started in the kitchen.
