Sir Jas Alien states he has been is* formed that the Manuka would not get away from Sydney to-day, tut it «u hoped she would be able to leave tomorrow. The shortage of labor seemed to have delayed the vessel. Sir James Allen received a msssage from the Government agent in Sydney >a respect of the appeal to the Seamen's Union to remove the obstacles preventing the Moeraki from sailing, stating that the secretary of the Union blamed the Union Company for not accepting the offer to man the vessel under certain conditions. The message concluded: He considers the Company's efforts are not sinoere to repatriate the people.

The Minister sent the following further message to the agent; "I dont consider this an answer to my appeal, and will be glad if the union wiU Btate wither they will respond to my appeal or whether they refuse. lam sure they have misjudged the attitude of the Company. lam certain the Company is sincere In its desire to repatriate the Btranded New Zealanders," Sir Jas. Allen has not received a reply to this further appeal. Sir James Allen states that both the Union Company and the Huddart, Parker Co. have agreed that wjieu boats resume running preference wil) b» given to the stranded New Zealanders.
