CONCRETE HOUSES.
A new method of reinforced concrete construction, especially designed to speed up the building of houses, will be considered by the local housing committees of the various "regions" under Dr. Addison's scheme (says the London Daily Chronicle),
The system is that used for housing the American troops in Prance, where it proved very successful. It has been patented under ,the name of the "Lightnin* Constructor" system. ° The slabs are made on the site by easily portable moulds. By this means the great mould difficulty is surmounted. A block of three live-roomed houses, it is stated, can be buil,t by twelve men in three days, by unskilled labor under skilled direction.
The cost to the public will be about £390 a house, or £415 including the cost of the land at 12 houses to the acre. They can be let, at 8s per week or less, according to the locality. The houses will have central heating if desired and all other modern improvements. A six-roomed house will cost about £450.
