CADET TRAINING.
THE SCHEME EXPLAINED. ])y Telegraph.—Press Association. , Wellington, Last Night. The syllabus of the new system of Cadc-t training announced by Sir James Allen some months ago, which comes into force throughout the Dominion next week is now published. "It is recognised," states the syllabus, "Unit no movement that possesses ptuely military motives is likely to be a success in the Dominion, since it is exactly this military (lominioh that we have been fighting against in Gcrmahy. The purpose, therefore, of this Cudet system is to produce good citizens primarily, rather than good soldiers, but there are two sides to good citizenship, of which one certainly is the preparation and capacity to defend the Dominion by force of arms should the n&ed arise. Citizenship, and not militarism, is, therefore, the real aim of the Cadet force."
Under the scheme all Cadets are to attend 34 evening drills dilring each of their four years' Service. At those drills they will receive instruction in physical training, musketry, and infantry drill, while, in Addition, they will he given lecturettes on a variety of subjects relating to godd citizenship. The physical training exercises will be the same as those which produced such good results in the Expeditionary Fqrce training camps. A special feature will be the introduction of popular games which ■will keep the Cadets moving, and at the same time, highly amused, benefiting them both mentally and physically.
