Continental buyers were still operatingMerinos, fine crossbreds, and scoured crossbred - were slightly dearer. The Bradford market showed no material change, little businete offering, prices being steady. Sixty-fours 102 d per pound, fifty-sixes 74d, fifties 64d. NEWTON KING'S REPORTS.
At Walwakalho, on 87th ultimo, weaner helfers made 325, empty 20-month heifers (snail) £4 ss, store cows £5 to £7 10s, dairy oows (backward) £7 10s to £9.
At Douglas, on soti ultimo, I hid a line yarding of cattle, the sheep pens also being well filled. The advertised stock on aeconnt of Messrs. Zurcher Bros, and Mr. Henry Wit« son came forward, all classes meeting with a very keen demand. I report a most ttttsfkctory sale throughout. At Stratford, on Ist Instant, only a fair proportion of the stock pens were SUM; ' Weaner heifers made £2 19s to £« fa forjerseya, mixed weaners £2 6s to £2 9s 6d, 20-month empty heifers £5 to £5 10s, store covs £8 2s Bd to £8 17s, bulls £ll ss, lat&bk 17s Td to 20s 3d, empty ewes 23s ed.
In the dairy yards I offered the dairy herd! on account of Mrs K. Bowe and Mr. J. Phillips, senr. Considering the rough state of the weather, the cattle of both vendors peiuted up very well, and good salea resulted. Mrs. Rowe's prices were: Best cows, £ls to £2O 10s, poorer conditioned and backward aorta £8 to £lO, bUU £0 10s. On account of Mr. Phillips best cows made £l4 to £JI, later sorts £8 lOf upwards, 2-year-old dairy heifers £8 10s to £lO 10s, On account of other vendors cows made from £IQ 10s to £l6, 2-year-old heifers (calved) £9, 2-yoar-old hidfan (springing) £ll to £ll 10s. .
At Inglewood on 2nd instant, I had a Mil yarding which met With a very tobd demand. Prices lh most cases were In adrahce of lata rates. Weaner heifers made £2 13s to £2 19s, Jersey yearling heifers up to £8 11a, yearling steers up to £S lis, empty 2-year heifers £5 10s to £6 12s, 2-year steers up to £5 16s, bulla £lO 2s 8d tq £l6 10s, forward heifers £0 18s, dairy cowa up to £ls 16l dairy heifers up to £l6 10s, others £4 15« to fit 12s Sd, ewes in lamb £l, aged effM 10»-4d to 17s 7d.
At Matapu on 28th ultimo I eondtMM a clearing sale on account of Mr. B. Hifan. lfce cows proved a fery even line, mostly young and coming to profit In July and August. Buyers attended In good numbers, a' aatUfactory salo resulting. Best cows made from £lB 'to £26 10s, aged and poorer conditioned sorts £B upwards, S-year-old dairy heifers £ll and £l2 10s, farm horses £lB 10s to £B6. On the same day, at Barclay Road, Stratford, on account of Mr, B. H, Susans, bast cows made from £l2 to £l7, backward soru £9 to £ll, mixed weaners 395.
At Waren, on 27th ultimo, I conducted a dispersal sale of the whole of Mr. F, Bote's Ur« > and dead stock. Buyers attended In record numbers from all parts, the herd being i Terr fine lot of Shorthorn, HolsUUt »hd lent) cattle In the pink of coudttlon, and showing well forward. The herd of 81 averaged the satisfactory figure of £lB 11a. Prices were" Cows £ls to £SI, later calvera £ll upwards! On 28th ultimo, at Mr. Jellyman's farm. Frankley Road, I sold by auction a dairy herd on account of Mr. A. J. Carter. Best cowa made from £l2 10s to £l9 10s, poorer conditioned and backward sorts £8 to £ll tha average af £l3 4s being considered quite satisfactory.
