BRITAIN'S INDUSTRIAL FUTURE.
yiEWED-rara apprehension. BANGEES»OF LIMITED PRODUCTION. By Tolegrtph.—Prsas Asm CopTlltbt. Received July 3, 10.5 p.m. London, July 2. Sir Newton Moore entertained Mr. Hughes to luijclieon at the House of Commons. , Mr. Hughes said he viewed the industrial future of Britain with apprehension. He predicted the greatest trade war in history, adding that England was the worst equipped nation to meet it. Australia paid the highest labor prices of any country in ,the world, yet could beat England in the world's coal markets if freights were normal, not because the price of labor waa high or low, but because of the greater production. He urged England to realise that the question was not whe.ther there should be capitalism or non-capitalism, socialism or non-socialism, but whether they would work or not work. Mr. Hughes urged more rapid and cheaper means of communication and the interchange of ideas with the Dominions.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
