A letter received from Captain Bngg, commander of the barque Dee, states that when captured and. sunk by the raider Wolf! en route from Mauritius to Westralia he spent eleven month! ai a prisoner aboard the Wolff. He describee the mine-laying operations The Wolff left Germany with 000 mines on board, and laid 150 off the Indian and Cape coast Afjxr capturing the Wairuna, she made for New Zealand, where she sank two or three American schooners and then laid mines off Auckland, then in Cook Straits. She next attempted to lay some off Bass Straits, and, after getting a few down, the raider waa nearly sunk by some steamer at ehe lay with her lights out, so she turned round and went full pelt via New Caledonia and New Guinea to Singapore and the Straits, where over 100 mines vera laid.
