GREATER WANGANUI. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, July 3. The Gonville Town Board lias decided to take steps to hold a poll on the question of amalgamation with the borerj to take steps to hold a poll on the of 50,000 to complete works in the suburb. If amalgamation is carried it will add between 3000 and 4000 to the borough's population, and the borough council will take over and expend the loan.
A MOTHER'S CRIME. Wanganui, July 3. A young woman, Roberta Gibson, was committed for trial this morning on a charge of the murder of her newly-horn child, the body of which was found in a drawer at the hospital. DISEASE IN OT^GO. The report by the District Health Officer for Otago and Southland indicates that the total number of cases of infectious disease notified, in June was ISfi, a decrease of G7 compared with May. This is due'mainly to the drop in diphtheria cases. There are five cas«3 of lethargic encephalitis.
