After a mass .meeting of the Seamen's Union the officials stated .that the strike Would probably be settled at the end of the week. DRASTIC RESTRICTIONS. Melbourne, July 2. As the result of the seamen's strike the Coal Board lias imposed further drastic restrictions on the use of gas and electricity owing to the serious shortage of coal. ANOTHER CONFERENCE SUMMONED. ' Received July 2, 9.35 p.m. Melbourne, July 2. Mr. Watt discussed the shipping strike with representatives of the Seamen's Union, and subsequently announced that it had been decided to summon another compulsory conference of steamship own*rs and seamen's representatives.—Aus.N.Z.
