The Washington correspondent of the New York Times says that the Senate debated a resolution requesting the Peace Conference to give a hearing- to the representatives of Ireland. Senator McCormick asked Senator Lodge: "How about Egypt?" Senator Lodge answered; "Egypt is bo better." Senator Thomas said there was a distinction between Poland, Roumania, and Ireland, since the former nations had been reorganised as autonomous nations and were members of the Peace Confer-ence.—Aub.-N.Z.
