WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Waitara, June 28. The football match to have taken place at Waitara on Thursday was put off, New Plymouth Technical School failing to put in an appearance. Considering the day, it was just as well, a3 it would have been impossible to have played good football with the wind .that was blowing.
The Peace Celebration Committee meeting called for Friday night was postponed indefinitely, as there was not a quorum present. Several members' of the committee were absent at other meetings and could not attend.
Twelve members of the Clifton Football Club journeyed to Stratford to play in the North v- South match .this afternoon.
At the meeting of the Seaside Committee on Friday night it was.decided to hold a euchre party and dance on Monday, July 14, when it is hoped tha.t .a good attendance will be secured. The cold weather recently has made the shortage of coal severely felt. As wood and coke are almost as scarce as coal, it is quite impossible to comply with the regulations of the Government to use wood and coke in its place.
