TURKISH TREATY.
A PLEA FOR LENIENCE. THE .THRESH DELEGATION By Telegraph.—Press Asan.=-Copyrl«ht. Paris, June 17The Turks met the Council of Ten and presented a Note outlining their views. They declared ,that the Sultan and the Turkish people were not responsible for the war, which was due to the revolutionary party getting control. The delegation expressed the hope that their empire would no.t be dismembered or treated drastically. Turkey was now economically ruined. They said Asia Minor was a desert country and they objected to the Greek occupation of Smyrna.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn, THE ALLIES' REPLY. Received June 29, 5.5 p.m. Paris, June 5.7. The Council of Ten, replying to the Turks, said there was no case in which the establishment of Turkish rule in any country had not been followed by a diminu,tion in prosperity. Wherever the Turk conquered he has destroyed and shown incapacity to govern. The Allies cannot allow him to rule alien races.— AU9.-KT.Z. Cable Assn.
