JUNIOR COMPETITION. TTJKAPA, 6; IHDHIRST, 1, The above gams was played at Western Park yesterday, a high wind making play decidedly awkward for players and inconvenient for spectators, of whom there was a fair number. In the first half there was no score, although Midhlrst were dangerous on several occasions. On changing over, Tukapa set up an attack and, displaying a better knowledge, ran up six points, H. Oliver scoring a try add also kicking a penalty goal. The visitors are a promising fifteen, and before the season closes should put up a big fight for the honors. Tukapa are now showing the necessary combination that secures success, but the gale yesterday naturally prevented much back play. Mr. Humphries controlled the game.
DJGLEWOOD, 9; STAR, 0. Tie above contest took place at Inglewood yestwday. There was a good attendance of the public in spite of the inclement state of the weather. Star olected to play against a strong wind, and although they played a good defensive game they had 9 points registered against them in the first spell. On resuming, Star made vigorous attempts to score, but the Inglswood forwards mdre than held their own, and smothered any attempts at back play on the part of the visitors. The whistle sounded with the local men on the attack. Tries were secured by'Sheaban (2) and S. Julian. Mr. W. Roch was In charge of the whistle. STAR, 6;- TUKAPA, 4. Thes* teams met at Western Park at the conclusion of the Mldhirat-Tukapa junior game and after a somewhat scrambling exhibition Star won by two tries to a potted goal. Hoffman (2) scored for Star, whilst Scrivener dropped a splendid goal for Tukapa. BLTHAM, S; N.P.8.H.5., 3. This match was played at New Plymouth yesterday.
