Mr Ryan hag arranged, if shipipng is not available, to convey Mount Morgan copper by railway to the Port Pirie works, also enabling them to re-open. Work is being resumed at Mount Morgan on Monday next. Sydney, June 26. The president of the local branch of the Seamen's Union, speaking at a meeting of stranded New Zealanders, guaranteed that the seamen would not obstruct thpir return to New Zealand. Hepredicted that ,the strike would end this week.
RELIEF OP DISTRESS. Received June 26, 10.25 p.m. Melbourne, June 23.. The Government has voted £SOO for the relief of distress owing to the shipping strike. Otherwise the position is unchanged. The general secretary of the Seamen's Union has arrived and met the Federal Council. He stated, tha.t the seamen of New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria were determined not to accept arbitration.
