THE GERMAN FLEET
CAPTAIN HANGED, BY GERMAN SAILORS, By Telegraph.—Press Awn.—Copyright. Beceived June 26, 11.5, pirn. , % London, June 25. Some German sailors hanged their captain at Scapa Plow prior to scuttling the ship—Aufc-NJZ. Cable Assn . EHE SINMNG DESCRIBED. GERMANS' INSOLENCE, London, June 25. An eye-witness on board a patrol boat states that the.first indication of the scuttling was the crews ot several ships rapidly throwing baggage into small boats. The lieutenant of the patrol guessed the explanation, ordered his men to get cutlasses and rifles ready and threatened to fire unless the Germans returned- The latter had cunningly thrown the oars away una declared they were helpless. The officers, wearing yellow kid gloves and smoking cigars, insolently demanded to be picked 'Up. The Bhips sank with dramatic swiftness. The eye-witness did not see the Red Flag, only the Admiral's flag and signal pennants. He noticed thai the Emden's forecabin was gay with bunting,, and detected a distinct odour of tobacco and spirits. Evidently there had been an orgy overnight. He believes that the time was carefully planned to synchronise with the absence of our fleet.—Aus.82. Cable Assn.
