By Telegraph.—Press Association, "r Wellington, June 26. * On the motion of Mr- E. E. Banks, in the Council of Eduoation this morning, it was resolved to congratulate the Government on raising the ,g| junior teachers and training college students by £3O a year. It was alio decided to urge upon the Government that the salaries of entrants to the teaching profession should be placed on a level" with'those paid in other branches of the ■ Civil Service. Mr. Banks also moved that the position of Director of Education should carry a minimum salary of £ISOO a year, and that the chief in-. spector of secondary, technical, and jri* mary schools should receive £I2OO a year; also that in future any vacancy in the Directorate should be advertised throughout the English-speaking countries, and that if a New Zealandtr should be appointed he be given twelve months' leave of absence to enable him to make a study of education as studied abroad, The motion was carried.—Aus.-KZ.
