BACK FROM THE WAR.

TARANAKI MEN RETURN. A large draft of returned men, who arrived in Auckland by the Waimaua, returned to Taranaki yesterday, some arriving by special train from Marton, while others arrived by the mail train. They were accorded cordial welcomes (it the various stations en route. Hawera station was gaily beflagged, and the men Were regaled with refreshments by the Women's National Beserve. The Salvation Army Band rendered a programme of music, and an address of welcome was delivered by .the Mayor. At Eltham, Stratford, and Inglewood the stations were crowded and the men were heartily welcomed. At New Plymouth there was a dense crowd on the station, and as the train drew in the Citizens' Band, under Bandmaster McLeod, played "Home Sweet Home." The Mayor and members of the Patriotic Committee were present, but nothing in the nature of a formal welcome was tendered, the men being quickly surrounded by friends. Members of the New Plymouth and Fitzroy Fire Brigades were present to give returning comrades a firemen's welcome home.
