AUSTRALIAN SHIPPING STRIKE.
NO SETTLEMENT AHEAD. Sydney, June 23. The prospects of a settlement of the seamen's strike are gloomy. The men announce that they are determined to continue the strike until their claims are granted. Adelaide, June 23. Many thousands are rendered idle as the result of the shipping strike. Factories are closing and many firms are reducing their staffs.
THE MT. MORGAN MINE.
Sydney, June 23. Mr Ryan, Premier of Queensland, who is now in Sydney, is taking steps to reopen the Mount Morgan mine, in order to arrest the widespread distress resulting from its closing.
