WEDDINGS.
BOOTH—DUNCAN. A very charming military wedding was solemnised at Holy Trinity Church, Patea, on Wednesday last between Mr. James Duncan (of Manaia), son of the late Mr. David Duncan, of Greymouth, and Miss Flprence Booth, only daughter of Mr. and Mis. G. W. Booth, of the Bank of Australasia, Patea, flie ceremony was performed by the INeville S. Barnett, Vicm? of j?atea. The bride was attended, as senior bridesmaid, by Miss Winfield, of New Plymouth, who looked charming in a smart frock of blue georgette over blue silk, with embroideries of pink-'and gold, wearing a black hat with touches of blue, and carrying a shower bouquet of pole pink and autumn leaves. The bride was also attended by two little girls/Phyllis and Helen Simmons, who looked sweetly pretty in primrose crepe-de-chene with sashes of bine and carrying posies of primroses. Each wore a gold chain and pendant, the gift of the bridegroom, the gift to the senior bridesmaid being a gold brooch. The bridegroom was attended by Rifleman Hunter Booth as best man, a guard of honor being furnished by members of the local branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association, many of whom were comrades of the bridegroom in the fateful days spent on the Gallipoll Peninsula, where he was eventually wounded- The guard, which was under the command of Lieut. Harding, formed np outside the church and stood at attention as the bride passed through their tanks into the church, afterwards escorting her up the aisle.
Mr. and Mrs. Duncan left during the afternoon for the south on a brief honey* moon tour. The popularity of both the bride and bridegroom throughout the district was (says the Press) shown by the extraordinarily Jarge nwaAer »f pre«mt« that were received, WILKINS—OLD.
A wedding of considerable local interest took place at St- Andrew's Presbyterian Church, IWaverley, on Wednesday last, when Miss Mabel Wilkins, eldest daughter ; of Mr, George Wilkins, -of IWaverley, was married to Mr. Alfred Old, fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. Old, of Feilding and late of Weikere, Upper Waitotara, the ceremony being conducted by the Sev. Donald Mclvor, of Waverley.
