MOTHER COUNTRY.

NATIONALISATION OF MINES, A CONFLICT OF VIEWS. By Telegraph.—Prejs Assn.—Copyright.' Received June 23, 7.20 p.m. London, June 21. Official—Justice Sankey's report separately recommends the Government immediately t'o acquire all coal royalties, compensating the owners, and to purchase the mines at a fair price after three years. The miners' delegates agree with Justice Sankey substantially, though Messrs Snullie, Hodges, and Smith oppose compensation for royalties. The owners' delegates oppose the nationalisation of the mines, but favor State co-operation with the owners under a Ministry of Mines. They do not oppose the acquirement of their royalties if they, receive compensation. Sir Arthur Duckham, chairman of the advisory committee of the Ministry of Monitions, in an independent report, sums up against nationalisation of collieries. He says the Government should acquire the mineral rights.—United Service.
