DEFEAT OF GOVERNMENT. i .Received June 22, 5.5 p.m. London, June 20. Owing to strict censorship, little information is coming through regarding the disturbances in Italy, culminating in a sensational defeat of the Government by 259 to 78. Dr. Dillon, writing from Paris, says that Italy is seething with discontent, and that the revolutionaries are seeking to establish a communist republic. The outlook causes uneasiness.—Aus. N.Z. Signer Orlando's defeat was due to failure to induce the Peace Conference to endorse Italian aims in the Adriatic, also to irritation at the dwindling food supplies and high prices.
