ADMNOTON. Christchurch, June 18. At Addlngton market there were large entries of fat sheep and fat cattle, and moderate entries in other departments. The market was firmer for all classes if sheep. Fat lambs made equal to 9d per lb. over all, and In some cases more. Medium and light fat sheep were also firmer. The yarding of fat cattle was not only one of the largest, but one of the best for quality since last Bpring. It Included a number of station lines. The sale was about on a par with last week as far 99 prices were concerned. There was a decided improvement In demand for store sheep, and all classes advanced In price. There was a small and poor entry of store cattle, and a large yarding of dairy cows was of moderate quality. Fat pigs sold well. Store sheep—Ewe hoggets 18s 6d to 28s, 2 and 4-tooth ewes 23s 6d, 4 and 6-tooth ewes 28s, sound-mouth ewes 17s 2d to 26s 4d, other hoggets 15s 9d to 28s lOd, 2-tooth wethers 18s 3d to 25s lOd, 4-tooth wethers 21s to 255, 3d, ewe lambs 24s lOd, other lambs 15s to 17s 9d, raised sex lambs lis to 20s. Fat lambs—Show lambs 41s to 455, extra prime lambs 345, prime lambs 28a to 31s 6d, medium lambs 23s 6d to 27s 6d, lighter lambs 17s 7d to 235.
Fat sheep—Extra prime wethers to 68s, prime wethers 36s to 45s 6d, medium wethers 31s to 35s 6d, lighter wethers 27s to 30s 6d, merino wethers 30s 3d, extra prime ewes 50s, prime ewes Sss to 40s, medium ewes 27s 6d to 345, lighter ewes 20s to 275. Fat cattle—Extra prime steers £26 10s, prime steers £l4 10s to £2l, ordinary steers £8 10s to £l4 ss, extra prime heifers to £ls £s Od, prime heifers £lO to £l4 2s 6d, ordinary heifers £6 15s to £9 7s 6d, prime cows £lO 5s to £ls, ordinary cows £6 15s to £9 15s.
Vealers—Runners £5 to £6 ss, good vealers £3 4s to £4 15s, fair 37s to £2 16s, small and Inferior 6s to 31s.
Store cattle—Two-year steers £6 10s, dry cows £3 15s to £7 10s, cows £3 15s to £7 10s, bulls £9 108 to £l3 15s, dairy cows £7 to £ 14.
Pigs—Baconers £4 5s to £7 16s, equal to 6%d per lb; porkers £2 7s to £3 15s, equal to 9%d per lb; choppers £3 10s to £B, small stores 22s to 325, weaners lis to 18s. BURNSIDE. Dunedin, June 18. There were good entries of fnt cattle at Burnside market, 222 being penned, nearly all well finished. Prices were about 10s better than lost week. Prime heavy bullocks £2O tn £23 15s, medium £lB 10s to £l9, light £l3 to £ls, prime .cows and heifers £l3 10s to £l6 10s, medium £lO 10s to £l2 10s, light and aged £8 to £9 15s. Fat sheep—A fair yarding of 2287 came forward, principally medium and light-weights. Owing to more freezing space being available export buyers operated more freely at Increased limits. Prices showed an advance of Is to 2s, and the market generally was firmer. Prime heavy wethers 45s to 51s, medium 36s to 423, light 30s to 85s, prime ewes 35s to 435, medium 28s to 82s, lighter 23s to 275.
Lambs (1653 penned)— The quality on the whole was better than for several weeks, a number of pens being Teally good. Export buyers operated freely at an advance of 2s to 2s Od, and for stores graziers ofTered more than lias been given for some' time. Prime 32s 6d to 365, medium 26s to 28s, light 20s to 255, stores from 13s. There was a particularly good entry of fat pigs, for which competition was keen. The prices ruling last week were very easily maintained. There was a small offering of stores, and prices were firm. N.Z.L. AND M.A. CO., LTD. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hawera, report as follows: On Saturday, 7th instant, we held a successful clearing sale on account of Mr. Bert Duffell, Jun, Tokaora, who la leaving the district for Matamata. Best dairy cows made £2O to £25, others £l3 10s to £l9, hackward calvers and aged sorts £8 to £ll. The herd averaged £l4 7s 6(1, milk cart horses £l4 to £l9.
