HAWKER INTERVIEWED. New York, June 15; rfie London correspondent of the New York Times interviewed Hawker, who stated that the success of the VickersVimy machine was a very fine performance. He heartily congratulated Alcock and Brown. The time +«-Wti in the flight, namely, 16 hours, was very ouick, and shows they evidently met better weather conditions than he and Grieve did; but under the best possible conditions such a flight was wonderful. fTe noted that their wireless failed like his. It seemed there must be something to learn about that yet. JjABGER AMERICAN EXPENDITURE. New York, June 18. The Washington correspondent of the New York Times states that Mr. Daniels aert a letter to the Senate Naval Committee urging the Senate to appropriate 15 million dollars for naval aviation. • Mr. Daniels said that Britain had appropriated 320 million dollars for aviation. ■ Mr. Daniels has disclosed the fact that 'the navy was planning a transpacific flight with lighter than air craft, fcttt the reduction in appropriations by |the House. Naval Committee may pretest carrying out the project.
