AYRSHIRE CATTLE BREEDERS.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Ayrshire Cattle Breeders' Association was held at the show buildings, Palmerston North, on Wednesday evening, when Mr C. Woodhey, vice-president, presided, owing to the illness of the president, Mr A. C. Johnson. Officers were elected as follows: Patron, Mr A. McFarlane; president, Mr A. C Johnson; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Parlanc, P. M. Mills and W. Hall; committee, Messrs T. Webb, D. Buchanan, C E. C. Webb and C. Morgan were appointed to fill the vacancies; treasurer, Mr W. Karslen; secretary, Mr P. Neilson; auditor, Mr P. M. Mills. Mr T. Webb moved in the direction of altering the rule regarding entrance fees so as to provide as follows: Up to oneyear old, members ss, non-members 10s; up to 2 years, 10s and £1; up to 3 years, 15s and £1 10s; to come in force on January 1, 1920, and after that date the herd book to be closed to any aniimal over 3 years. After a long discussion an amendment, "that after the closing of No- 2 herd book no animal be accepted for entry over one year old," was carried. It was further decided that after January 1, 1820, the fees for transfer would be during first year after sale, members Is, non-members 2s; second year, 2s and 4s; third year, 3s and 6s. The committee reported that under the conditions as laid down at last annual meeting they could not proceed with the proposal to hold a Derby. Certain other suggestions were made and will be considered by the committee. Certificates and medals won during last year at A. and P. Show were presented.
