INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC.

Dr. Charks Duncan, at a convention of _ the American Medical Association, said that the cure for influenza was one drachm of infected mucous pasteurised in filtered water and injected subcutaneously. This would effect a spontaneous cure of Spanish influenza, pneumonia, and catarrh.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. DEATH RATE INCREASES. Sydney, June 19. Owing to the depletion of the postal staff due to influenza, letter deliveries in the "ity have been reduced, and it is proposed to- close the telegraph offices earlier. There were-33 deaths from influenza in the metropolitan area yesterday, the highest for several monthsFUNCTIONS POSTPONED. Received June 19, 11.3 p.m. Sydney, June 19 Functions connected with. Lord Jellicoe's arrival on Tuesday have been postponed owing to influenza. The schools will'bo closed for another week.
