THE LEAGUE MATCH, By Telegraph —Press Assn.—Copyright. Received June 10, 11,35 p.m. Sydney, June 16. " Late to-night tlie New South Waleß Rugby League reported that, at th# request of the New Zealand manager*, the league Ims decided to postpone the Orange match until later in the season. Oakley, Levien, Tancred, Somers, and Wilson have contracted influenza in ft mild form, and, in addition, several players were slightly injured in the recent" matches. The New Zealanders desire to play at full strength in the remaining matches against New South Wales, and* prefer not to lake unnecessary risks against the Orange team. They will remain in Sydney until after the big engagements on Saturday and Monday. All players, except Somers and Wilson, are available for selection for Saturday's match.

Hooker (New Plymouth) and A. Walls (Rahotu) presented themselves for examination, and were admitted to active membership. Mr. Roberta submitted bis report of the Tukapa-Cllfton match at Waltara on Thnnday last, and this was accepted as satisfactory by the association. , Mr. L. Whltaker's resignation from the association was accepted regret.
There are now ten teams In the Thursday First Junior competition, Str'aford having been admitted. If any special conditions are to be Imposed they will have been n* the union meeting last night.
Tukapa has entered a team in the Thursday Second Junior competition, and have been given a bye this week to permit of the first round of this competition being completed u originally drawn. The second ro'jrod has been redrawn.
The First Junior match Technical Collets v. Toko may not take place, as it is understood the Technical College is closed for vacation. In the Second Junior Satin-day competition Stratford District High School was to play Star on the 21st, and Clifton has a bye. As the school is closed for vacation Star and Clifton will meet at New Plymouth, the adiool taking the bye. HSSVHERN COMPETITION. SENIORS. Hawcra and Walmate had a very strenuous fltniegle, there being no score. They were evenly matched. Opun&ke defeated Kaponga by three point* to nil, after a bard and willing game. JUNIORS. Ha worn II defeated Walmate by It to 5. Kaponga 111 defeated Hawera Technical School by 20 to 0. Normanby journeyed to Opunake, where the; i were set down to play Opunako, but on attlTnl there was no third toiun available. Normanby, therefore, won by default. A scratch game wis then arranged between Normanby and Opunake Juniors. The latter team won by a nanow margin of three points. PATEA-WAITOTARADISTRICT. In the Patea-Waltotara district, on Saturday, the following were the results: SENIORS. Patea defeated Wavcrley by 13 to nil. Waitotara and Alton drew, there being no score. JUNIORS. Patea defeated Alton by 3 to nil. Waltotara defeated Waverley by 23 to nil. Purlns the second half of the Junior match, Alton y. Patea, two players—-Adams of Alto/1 and Hughes of Patea—collided, their foreheads 1 1 meeting with a crash that could be heard all over tho pound. Adams had to receive medi' cal attention, having received a nasty gash, while Hushes was badly bruised, and had to leave tho V ■
WELLINGTON MATCHES. The Wellington nenlor matches resulted: Petone 8 v. Poneke 6. Athletic 28 v. Oriental nil. Selwyn 5 v. Wellington 3. GOLF. BTANDISH CUP.
