FRENCH STRIKE.

The strike outlook has improved and compromise has been reached in several industries; others, including the coalminers, shop-assistants, and clothiers have secured their demands and returned to work. The metal-workers, transporters and railwaymen are unruly and many troops have been drafted in as a precautionary measure ana have overawed their meetings. Laundry and electrical workers have joined the strike.
