HAWERA v. NEW PS YMOUTH. The New Plymouth Rifle C'ub fired a challenge match with the Hawura Club for the Side Clubs' Challenge Shield at the Whareroa range on Thursday, and the local club was successful in retaining tho shield by a suostantial majority of 36 polnls. The wind was strong, yet good scores were made.

MEETING OF DELEGATES. A meeting of delegates of the various rifle clubs in the Taranakl province was held in the Soldier.,' Club on Friday, Messrs. ,lennln;;s and Smith, Ma P., who are members of the New Plymouth Defence Rifle Club, being present. Mr. Mills, president of the local club, was In the chair, and explained the objects of tho meeting. Amongst the most important remits to be forwarded to the New Zealand Rifle Clubs' executive in Wellington wore: "That assistance to riae clubs hi tho upkeep of targets be given." This applies principally to country clubs. "That In lieu of the class tiring course, members of the clubs who are efficient shots undertake the instruction of junior members and senior cadets In practical musketry, tho necessary ammunition to be supplied from the annual issue to those units, club members to use their own methods of Instruction." "That the privilege of railway warrants to club teams for the purpose of attending matches or association meetings be restored." "That in regard to return of flred cartridge cases, the clubs be placed on the-same footing as in 1914." * "That rifles be supplied to the clubs as soon as there are any available." The question of organic'ion of adjacent clubs into centres was held over until ihe neit meeting, which, as there is every possibility of the Taranaki Rifle Assnrhitlon annual meetings being revived, will be held then. Mr. Mills was elected chairman of tbe organisation, and Mr. Armltage secretary.
