ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FATE OF AN UNWANTED. By, Telegraph.—Press Association.Wanganui, June 14. An inquest was opened this morning on the body of a fully developed male child found in a drawer yesterday in the maids' quarters at the public hos,pital. The mother of the child was a domestic employee in the institution. She was' not attended at the confinement and is now under medical treatment- The inquest was adjourned until she was fit to give evidence.
DEATH IN A BATH. i Whangarei, June 14. A returned soldier named Delahunty, under treatment at Kamo Sanatorium, went into the "champagne" mineral bath, despite orders to the contrary. He was subsequently found dead on the floor iof the bath-house yesterday evening. : Previously he suffered from disturbed I action of the bsart. KILLED BY A. RACEHORSE.. Whangarei, Last NightThe death occurred at the hospital last night of Harry Dempster, aged about 50 years, a general carrier, as the result of a kick from his racehorse, Kaiangaroa, on Friday afternoon when deceased vjlas adjusting the animal's cover. Dempster's face was fearfully mutilated, his eyesight being completely destroyed. A widow and five children are left. KILLED BY MOTOR CYCLE. Masterton, Last Night. William L. Falconer, a well known settler of Masterton, was killed last night on the Masterton-Carterton road. Deceased was riding a push bicycle towards his home at Taratahi when a cycle, ridden by a Maori named Manihera, forcibly collided with him. When picked up Falconer was quite dead. The Maori sustained injuries to his head and face, but they were not serious. Falconer was a married man and a Justice of the Peace.
TE HENUI FATALITY. An inquest concerning the death of Mrs. Ethel Grace Gardiner, who was drowned in the To Hemii River on Friday, was held before the acting-coroner (Mr. J. W- Poynton. S.M.) on Saturday afternoon. Constable J. Wroblensfei represented the police and Mr. J. H. Quilliam appeared on behalf of the relatives. After hearing the evidence, a verdict was given to the effect that deceased committed suicide during temporary insanity, due to severe mental depression caused through the loss of her husband.
