FRENCH STRIKE.
: UNDERLYING CAUSES. tABOR'S NEW CLAIMS. deceived June 13, 7.10 p.m. Paris, June 4. tie labor upheaval 3a based mainly on like dearness of living. Three hundred Kid fifty thousand struck in the Paris legion, paralysing the traffic. The men claim a minimum of 450 francs monthly, with a pension at the age of fifty-five. Fifteen thousand arsenal workers at Puteaux, also miners in the Pas de Calais, have struck. Demagogic orators are urging the men to extend the agitation to political questions, to protest against diplomatic or military intervention in Russia and Hungary, and to demand immediate demobilisation. M. OaeWn, a Socialist Deputy, declares that underlyng the financial causes of the strike is the determination of Labor to secure a definite share in the management of the great business interests of the country. Further, that the French bourgeoisie have been combating the working classes and peasant republics who were striving for existence in Europe, but organised Labor meant to secure the direction of the home and foreign affairs of France.—Aus.-N.Z.
