TOWN PLANNING.
CHRISTCHURCH PROPOSALS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christehurch, June 10. At to-night's meeting of the Christchurch Town Planning Association a resolution was carried urging upon the government the necessity Jor prompt action being taken in an endeavor to overcome the existing lack of decent houses at reasonable rental, and for the purpose of a comprehensive Town Planning Bill, which should be made a matter of urgency at next session of Parliament.
Mr. L. M. Isitt, MJP., said he was thoroughly in sympathy with the motion, but there was as much ■ possibility of town planning legislation being considered next session as there was of going to the moon. The Mayor outlined a scheme he had evolved for the establishment of a garden suburb in a block of sixteen acres, which was under offer to the City Council. He hoped a settlement would be laid out on the block to house the returned soldiers who were unable to secure housing accommodation.
