Lieut. A. Jennings, son of Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P. for Taumarunui, is returning to New Zealand by the Prinzessin, due about June 25 Major J. B. Hine, M.P. for Stratforl, was a visitor to the Winter Show yesterday. A Sydney cable records the death of Mr. George Williamson, solicitor, a rugbv footballer who toured New Zealand in the eighties with the New South Wales Amateur Athletio team. A London cable states tti>t Sir Thos. Mackenzie, alluding to the termination of his term as High Commissioner for New Zealand, said he did not desire a short period. Renewal for a l.mger period would strengthen his position in view of the importance of the work still to be done. On relinquishing her po«\Hon at the Matapu School, Miss S'mraonds was the recipient of a handsome dressing case from the pupils, as a mark of appreciation of the assistance they have received from Miss Simmcnds during her long term as assistant teacher Mr. T. W. Narbiy, well Irnown in Kltham, was yesterdcy morning marriod to Miss Chris. E. Barr, of E'.tham. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr. Robertson. Mr. T. Moffett was best man, and Miss Francis Barr bridesmaid The bride was given away by her father. The bride was attirod in a crecm gaberdine costume, and the bridesmaid in a cream gaberdine coat drtss. The happy pair left later by motor for W.uganui. Mr. and Mrs. Narbey intend making their future home at Opotiki, where Mr Narbey is taking up sheep farming.—Argm. Among promotions and tnnsfers in th-i Post and Telegraph Department just announced are tho following- Mr. S. Ayling, district accountant at Thames, to be district accountant at New Plymouth. Mr. li. R. do Bean, postmas'er at Lower Hutt, to bo relieving postmaster. Wellington; Mr. F. Scully, district accountant at New Plymouth, 'o be postmaster at Auckland South Central Mr. Scully has been in Now P'ymouth for a number of years, and proved a very efficient and obliging officer. The many friends he has made here will be glad to learn oi ; his advancement.
